With the ever-increasing number of wireless phones with access to the Internet, it was only a matter of time before a new TLD was made available for registration to fulfill the requirements of this new niche. The .MOBI TLD is not an ordinary top-level domain name.

The top most important requirement for building a mobile content website is that all pages must be encoded in XHTML-MP (Mobile Profile). Another key rule is that all .MOBI websites must respond to an HTTP request without the "www" part.
